You'll probably have to spend $700+ for the next best product. This makes for an undesireable input curve to the sim.
Besides the much lauded metal shaft with bearings, I was surprised at how cheaply constructed this product is. It feels very fragile, like you could crack the thin plastic with little force.
I suppose it's the best available for the price. Almost all aircraft yokes have 90 degrees travel from center.
The throttle quad is also quote insubstantial, giving the impression that they could easily snap off. I guess I'm just used to racing on my G25, a very high quality peripheral. Also, I was surprised to learn that the yoke only has 45 degrees travel in either direction from center.
Again, in this price range it's about the only thing available. But still, on the basis of quality of materials and construction, this one is disappointing.
This product is awesome. It feels much more sturdy than it looks in pictures. I've been impressed with all of the Saitek products and this yoke system does not disappoint.
Eventhough I still bought the product.Well, I had serious quadrant issues, which I wasn't able to fix. At last I was told to take the product back to the store in order to get a replacement. This review is intended for all those costumers located at those contries where Saitek doesn't have any representyative office or dealer.I used to read the reviews for the Sitek Pro Joke, and I could see that there were some issues related to phantom keys and/or throttle quadrant. In the mean time I tried to contact a representative from Argentina #via e.mail) as well, in order to get some assitance in Spanish, but they told me that "they had a possible solution for me, but since I bought this product at Amazon (USA), they couldn't give me any support". A. So I wrote via e.mail to Saitek costumer support representatives in the USA and UK. I followed all of the recommendation, tips, and steps given by the UK representative, but couldn't solve the problem.
So, send it back to the store (in this case Amazon), is not an option just because it would cost me almost the same amount of money I spend in get it here.If You read others reviews with similar issues, You'll notice that some costumers which were not able to solve their problem were told to take the product back to the store, so I must say it is almost a common issue. Unfortunatelly I didn't paid much attention to those reviews. Ok, here comes the big problem, I spent almost US$85.00, to get the product delivered to my country (which by the way doesn't have any Saitek offices, sellers or representatives). And after three sent e.mails, I never recieved any assitance from USA representatives, but UK. On the other hand I was contacted by a UK costumer support representative. And I ask, why the people from Amazon, keep selling such a problematic itemAt last feel like throwing away almost US$202.00.Sincerelly,R. Flores
I was impressed with the throttle controls. I have flown single engine aircraft for 40 years (as of 12/31/09). They felt real and functioned as in real aircraft. I was not impressed with the Yoke feel and function. It did not smoothly represent the real control Yoke that I have felt in many different types of aircraft. Amazon was fantastic about returning the product and gave me no hassles at all. I will be saving up and purchasing a $500 control Yoke in the future to satisfy my taste.
There are also a lot of switches and buttons that can be configured to match different airplanes. This yoke is great for simulator training. The yoke is very smooth (with a small shot of silicone) and other than being a little too sensitive (as I also mentioned in my review of the rudder pedals which I think is a problem with the simulator software and not the yoke) is a very nice piece of hardware. I am a flight instructor and like the realistic feel of a yoke compared to a mouse or joystick. Also, the throttle quadrant may be placed on either side of the yoke which is more realistic as an instructor usually sits on the right side of the airplane and uses these controls with the left hand. I am very pleased I bought this yoke. One other nice thing about Saitek is the options they have available.
